Decker's room

The servants would use the small decker's room behind the parlour for the final preparation and serving of food. This was ideally located between the basement kitchen and the ground floor dining room. Food would be kept hot using heated serving dishes and plate warmers, although these did not prevent continental visitors from sometimes complaining that English food arrived at the table cold.

Today, this room houses our volunteer space.
